13,952 Birmingham pupils applied to transfer to secondary school for September 2009 (down 417)
2,278 (16.3%) applications were made on-line (up 1,110)
9,471 pupils (67.9%) were offered their first preferred school (up 2.6%)
1,747 pupils (12.5%) were offered their second preferred school (no change)

14,369 parent/carers who live in Birmingham submitted a local authority preference form requesting a secondary school place for their child before the offer of places on 3 March 2008.
Of the 14, 369:
9,380 were offered their first preferred school (65.3%)
1,803 were offered their second preferred school (12.5%)
938 were offered their third preferred school (6.5%)
601 were offered their fourth preferred school (4.2%)
