Birmingham City Council has confirmed arrangements for the count and declaration of results for the 2010 General and local elections, should both be held on the same day (May 6th).
The count for all 10 Birmingham constituencies in the General Election will take place immediately after the polls close on Thursday night, with the results expected to be declared between midnight and 4am.
Counting for the local elections will begin at 2pm on Friday 7th May. This delay will allow staff to have the necessary break required to ensure they are not tired and remain fresh for the second count, thereby protecting the integrity of the result.
