Reception Class 2010 intake – offers as at 22 March 2010

Figures in brackets denote difference to 2009 figures

  •  13,575 parent/carers submitted a local authority preference form requesting a reception place for their child before the closing date of 1 February 2010 (up 108)
  • 31,439 preferences were expressed (down 529)3,768 (27.9%) applications were made on-line (up 1,569 / 11.6%)
  • 11,671 (86%) were offered their first preferred school (down 1.6%)
    976 (7.2%) were offered their second preferred school (up 0.7%)
    341 (2.5%) were offered their third preferred school (up 0.4%)
  • 12,988 (95.7%) pupils were offered one of their preferred schools (down 0.5%)
  • 587 (4.3%) pupils have been offered a provisional place at a school that is not one of their preferred schools.  This compares with 468 pupils (3.5%) in March 2009 and 457 pupils (3.4%) in March 2008.
