Staffordshire Hoard Cheque Presentation in Chamberlain Square
The Staffordshire Hoard fundraising appeal will get another boost as Rita McLean, Head of Birmingham Museums and Heritage Services, receives a donation of £1,000 from Melvyn Haigh, vice chairman of the Birmingham St George’s Day Association ahead of the St George’s Day celebrations on Saturday 24 April, 11am – 5pm.
The Birmingham St George’s Day Association and their chairman, historian Carl Chinn, were very keen to help secure and make a contribution to the restoration, research and display of the Staffordshire Hoard of Saxon gold. Continuing the theme, this year’s St George’s Day celebrations will have a Saxon village with Anglo-Saxon warriors, Saxon slaves and a Saxon v Viking battle too!
