Cllr Les Lawrence, Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Families, responds to the Government announcement on Building Schools for the Future:
“We have received the statement and the list of schools. We will now have to consider the implications on a school by school basis to see if there is a way we can find alternative arrangements to proceed with the rebuilds.
“This could cause significant difficulties for the private sector, for example, the construction industry and materials supply chain. We will have to see how we can minimise the loss jobs and consequent cost to the state.”
