The British Science Festival is one of Europe’s largest science festivals, taking place each September – and is this year coming to Birmingham.
The Festival is in a different location in the UK each year, bringing along the latest in science, technology and engineering.
It will be visiting Birmingham from September 14-19 with support from organisations including Birmingham City Council, to showcase the latest excellence in science, technology and engineering.
One of Europe’s largest science festivals, taking place each September, the six-day event attracts visitors of all ages, with an ever-expanding array of lectures, debates and science-related demonstrations, as well as a dedicated young persons’ programme, which will run at Thinktank.
With 180 events scheduled, the British Science Festival aims to bring science closer to the public by showing how it can be engaging, insightful and applicable to their everyday lives.
The Festival will be fully supported by Birmingham Science City, a region-wide partnership which showcases the strengths in research and development in science, technology and engineering in the West Midlands region.
Birmingham Science City will be hosting fringe events to complement the main programme of the Festival, which will be confirmed closer to the date.
Organised by the British Science Association, the Festival will be hosted by Aston University and supported by Advantage West Midlands, Saudi Aramco, Birmingham City Council, the University of Birmingham and Birmingham City University.
Many events will be taking place on Aston University campus and throughout various venues across Birmingham. The British Science Festival draws in some of the most celebrated scientists and science communicators from within and outside the Heart of England region.
From workshops to debates to hands-on activities, the British Science Festival has something for everyone. Expect to take part in heated debates where you can dissect and discuss the latest scientific research.
Join in on talks, watch plays and films, see famous faces or take a fieldtrip around the local area. Bring along the whole family and get stuck into some hands-on fun and discover the wonders of all things science.
