At around 1.15pm today a group of approximately 50 protesters gained access to the Council House where they staged a peaceful protest within the main council chamber.
We are pleased that the protest ended peacefully around 5pm and without any damage being caused.
Generally our security arrangements worked well, with protesters contained within the council chamber and away from any secure, private areas of the building, meaning council business could continue as normal.
