Sutton Coldfield Library relocation

Plans to relocate Sutton Library to the Design Centre in Upper Holland Road have been reviewed.

Councillor Anne Underwood, Chairman of Sutton Coldfield Constituency Committee, said: “It is with regret that I have to announce that plans to relocate Sutton Coldfield Library to the Design Centre are being withdrawn.

“Unfortunately the high cost and delays associated with making the proposed venue ‘fit for purpose’ are beyond what we can afford given the challenging financial climate we are working in.

“We would, very much, like to thank Birmingham Metropolitan College for their kind offer and assistance.”

Extended opening hours at the Constituency Libraries in Mere Green, Walmley and Boldmere will continue as will the children’s and music events at The Fellowship Hall.

In the meantime work continues towards finding a long term solution to the problem.
