Statement on John Hagee’s planned visit to Birmingham

Commenting on news that Pastor John Hagee is due to speak at Birmingham Symphony Hall next month:

Councillor Alan Rudge, Cabinet Member for Equalities and Human Resources and Deputy Leader of the Conservative Executive, said:

“Birmingham City Council is clear that the responsibility for making and managing bookings lies with Symphony Hall and, ultimately, the Performances Birmingham Trustees.

“They are an independent organisation and it would be wholly inappropriate for us to interfere.

“Clearly, if there are concerns about any person’s fitness to enter the UK then that is an issue which needs to be taken up with the Home Office.”
