Council meeting on disorder to be held in public

In relation to a meeting of Birmingham City Council and MPs to discuss last week’s disorder in the city and wider country, a Birmingham City Council Spokesperson confirmed the meeting is now to be held in public, saying:

“It was decided at last week’s special meeting of the Cabinet – when the city was considerably more tense – that, on balance, it would be more constructive to hold an informal, closed session of full council to discuss the issues further.

“However based on the course of events since and especially the success of the weekend’s peace rally, the council has now taken the decision to hold this meeting in public.”

The meeting will be held at 3pm in the Council Chamber, Council House, Victoria Square.
