Two pools in Sutton Park have been given the all-clear two months after Environment Agency tests found higher than usual levels of potentially toxic blue-green algae.
In August visitors to Sutton Park were warned to keep their pets out of the water after the routine tests found increased levels of the algae in Blackroot and Keepers Pools.
Now a retest has found the pools are clear of blue-green algae.
In partnership with the Environment Agency, parks staff regularly monitor the water in pools and lakes across the city and had found increased levels of the algae in Blackroot and Keepers Pools.
Blue-green algae (Cynobacteria) occurs naturally in rivers, ponds, estuaries and the sea.
It produces toxins which can be fatal for animals and cause sickness and muscle pain in humans.
Warning signs erected at both pools will now be removed.
