“Birmingham City Council would like to apologise for any problems experienced with refuse and recycling collections over the Christmas Bank Holidays and would ask the public to bear with us as we endeavour to catch up any missed collections over the next few days.
“This is due to the much higher than normal volumes of waste and recycling following Christmas. If your waste or recycling is not collected on the scheduled day please leave it at the edge of your property and we will get to it as soon as we can.
“Extra collections will continue over the weekend where regular collections have not taken place, and also next week should they be required.”
ENDS

Our normal recycling collection fell upon 26/12/11. The website instructs me to put out my boxes on 31/12/11. Its now 02/01/12 my street is full of overflowing boxes and the wind is blowing the contents around the street. Please confirm there will be a box collection today. Thank You.
Our collections are on Weds. The black bags and Green boxes were collected this week, but not the paper again. Is it going to be collected over the weekend? Many thanks.
