The gritters were out three times in around 12 hours on Saturday. We put grit down before the snow and twice afterwards but of course grit cannot stop the snow from falling.
On the whole we managed to keep the city moving but of course there will always be isolated incidents when you have significant snowfall in a short space of time.
I’m not sure where the Gritters worked yesterday, (Saturday). My family drove from West Bromwich to Selly Oak, through town centres and along bus routes. Not one of these roads had been gritted, it was chaos and a very long anxious journey home. We were not impressed with the service provided, especially as the snow was forecast almost to the hour!!
