Bank Holiday Collections to Continue as Normal
Waste and recycling collections in Birmingham are set to carry on as normal during next week’s bank holiday (Monday 7th May).
Confirmation from the City Council that services will continue as normal means that all residents at properties which usually receive Monday collections should put their waste or recycling out for collection at the edge of their property before 6am as normal.
The pledge to maintain services follows the successful delivery of scheduled waste and recycling collections across last month’s double Easter Bank Holiday.
Tommy Wallace, Director of Fleet and Waste Management said: “The City Council has always believed that we should do everything possible to minimise disruption to the public on Bank Holidays and maintain essential services whenever possible.”
Green fingered residents or DIYers looking to take advantage of the long bank holiday weekend as they prepare their homes and gardens for summer will also be able to visit the city’s five household recycling centres, which will be open on Bank Holiday Monday, and throughout the week, until 8pm every evening.
