There will be no pass outs once inside the venue
There will be no food or drink allowed into the venue.
Please note that the concert is a ticket only event, people will need to check that their ticket is valid.
Please bring appropriate clothing; please check local TV and radio beforehand for weather updates. Due to recent rainfall it is advisable to wear sensible and sturdy footwear to the event.
Free car parking is available at Edgbaston Cricket Ground (1000 spaces) and Calthorpe Park, Pershore Road (400 spaces), both will be AA signposted.
A limited number of tickets have been made available for the concert and are available from www.ticketmaster.co.uk/birminghamcitycelebrations or by visiting the box office at Cannon Hill Park between 9am – 11am on Saturday 30 June.
When viewing the torch relay, please take advice from stewards on site. Do not encroach into the roads
The Olympic Torch will arrive in Birmingham on Saturday 30th June 2012, at approximately 18:52 arriving from Sandwell via A4902 Cape Hill, across the border of the city onto Dudley road (A457). It will then begin its journey along Dudley Road, Spring Hill, Sandpits, Parade, Paradise Queensway, Bristol Road, Edgbaston Road and into Cannon Hill Park at around 20:00 hrs.
Where the cauldron will be lit on stage at the Coca Cola celebration concert.
At 5.45am The Lord Mayor will prepare to say farwell to the torch on its route out of the city via Colmore Row, Bull Street, High Street, Bullring (convoy by road divert) runner through middle of Bullring and Spiceal Street, onto the top of Digbeth High Street, down through Digbeth High Street, Deritend, Camphill and onto Stratford Road (A34) straight through to Robin Hood Island and onto Solihull Lane B4025.
There will be road restrictions and closures throughout the Torch route as it passes through the city but every effort to minimise disruption has been made.
1 – Along Torch Relay Route on 30 June
Torch enters Birmingham from Cape Hill Sandwell at approximately 6.49pm and travels along Dudley Road, Spring Hill, Spring Hill Circus, Summer Hill Road, Sand Pits, Parade, Paradise Circus Queensway, Suffolk Street Queensway, Holloway Circus Queensway, Horse Fair, Bristol Street, Bristol Road, Priory Road and Edgbaston Road entering Cannon Hill Park at Queens Ride at approximately 7.55pm.
Along this route stopping will be prohibited on the nearside only from 10am-8pm on Saturday 30 June. Up to the junction of Bristol Road / Priory Road traffic will be managed by Police Rolling Road closure. After that road closures will apply (see item 2 below.)
Note. No waiting cones will be placed out overnight Friday to Saturday
2 – Road closures/ no stopping around Cannon Hill Park
There will be a four stage plan:
stage 1 residential streets closed except for residents access 10am – 9pm Residents passes being managed by events. No stopping sections of Pershore Road, Edgbaston Road, Salisbury Road and Willows Road.
stage 2 closure Edgbaston Road (Willows Road to Pershore Road) Local diversion in operation 6pm-8.30pm
stage 3 closure Priory Road (Bristol Road to Pershore Road) 6pm – 8.30pm Local diversion in operation
stage 4 traffic on Pershore Road both directions to be held at the Priory Road / Edgbaston Road
junction for a few minutes at approximately 7.51 to allow the Torch Relay to passes along Priory Road / Edgbaston Road.
3 – Along Torch relay route 1 July
Torch leaves Victoria Square at 6.03am and travels via Colmore Row, Bull Street, High Street, Bullring, Edgbaston Street, St Martin’s Lane, Digbeth, High Street Deritend, High Street Bordesley, Camp Hill, Camp Hill Circus, Stratford Road, Robin Hood Island, Solihull Lane to boundary with Solihull leaving Birmingham at approximately 7.30am.
Along this route stopping will be prohibited on the nearside only from 12.30am to 8am on Sunday 1 July. Note no waiting cones will be deployed on the route in residential areas between midday and 4pm on Saturday 30 June. No waiting cones will be deployed on the route in retail areas from 6pm on Saturday 30 June.
Apart from some road closures near the start traffic will be managed from Digbeth onwards by a Police rolling road closure. Closures at the start are:
(i) Colmore Row (Newhall Street – Victoria Square) and Waterloo Street next to Victoria Square 5am – 6.30am
(ii) Remaining section of Colmore Row, Bull Street, Corporation Street, High Street – 5.45am to 6.30am
Saturday 30th June
