Cottesbrooke Junior School – clarification

There have been several media reports today about proposals by Cottesbrooke Junior School to change its hours of operation on Fridays. The school’s management wishes to make the following points clear:

  • This is ultimately a school decision, with the board of governors making a final decision
  • At the moment no decision has been made. Last night’s meeting with parents was part of a broader consultation on the possibility of altering the school day
  • There is a legal requirement for teachers to be given time to plan lessons
  • Any proposal would still ensure that pupils are taught for the legally-required amount of time per week
