Birmingham Libraries announce Young Poet Laureate

Seventeen year old Claire Guest has been named as Birmingham's 8th Young Poet Laureate. BBC WM presenter Adrian Goldberg will present her with the award and cheque for £100 worth of books on National Poetry Day – Thursday 4th October.

Claire, who attends Sutton Grammar School for Girls, was awarded the title following her public audition at this year's artsfest which impressed both judges and public alike.

This is the third year that Claire has applied for the prestigious post of Birmingham Young Poet Laureate, having come a close second in 2011 behind the current holder, Damani Dennisur.
