Birmingham Lord Mayor’s Show and The Queen’s 90 Birthday

Birmingham’s Lord Mayor, Cllr Carl Rice, invites citizens to the annual Lord Mayor’s Show.

Lord Mayor Cllr Carl Rice said: “It’s my privilege to be the Lord Mayor of Birmingham.  I want to extend a big welcome to everybody to attend this year’s Lord Mayor’s Show, this coming Sunday from 11am til 5pm at Cannon Hill Park.  It’s a family day out and there lots and lots of exciting, interesting things for people to do , especially children.  So come along and have a great fun day out.”

This year’s free event is also an opportunity to join in the national celebrations for The Queen’s 90th birthday.

The event starts with a Commonwealth Flag Parade and the Dhol Drummers with the formal opening by the Lord Mayor at 11.30am.

The Queen is Patron of the Lawn Tennis Association, the Rugby Football Union and the Professional Golf Association and they will all be bringing fun activities to the Show.

There will also be –

  • Falconry demonstrations
  • Sheepdog and duck displays
  • Craft workshops and craft stalls
  • Face painters
  • Storytelling
  • Children’s rides
  • Active Parks taster sessions in Zumba, badminton, hula hooping, tai chi, soft archery and bike rides
  • Street food and a bar
  • Live music from Birmingham City Council’s choir
  • Armed Forces activities

 

Visitors are advised that there will be limited parking so it is advisable to go by public transport.
