Brasshouse @ Library of Birmingham classes begin
The first students to attend Brasshouse @ Library of Birmingham start their classes tomorrow (Tuesday 13 September).
The move ensures the language students benefit from a more modern environment with an even greater range of resources, and has allowed an extension of the library opening hours.
, cabinet member for jobs and skills, said: “Brasshouse @ Library of Birmingham will connect even more learners with modern resources and is helping us keep the library open as a public space for more hours during the week, through operational cost savings.
“We have listened to feedback from residents and we know that people want to use the library for longer and in different ways, not simply as a lending resource, so this is a great opportunity for both the library and for Brasshouse.
“The first floor has been reconfigured to host the nationally renowned language centre and students now have a modern and fit-for-purpose base that brings together libraries, learning and languages in a world class home.”
The first classes will be part of the English as a Foreign Language (EFL) programme, with Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) starting the following week.
