Bulky waste collections move to weekdays

Bulky waste collections are being moved from a Saturday-only service to a Monday to Friday service as part of the ongoing effort to modernise and improve Birmingham City Council's refuse collection service.

The new Monday to Friday service launches on November 12, and as under the current system, up to six items can be collected at any one time - with each household entitled to three collections per year free of charge.

Cllr James McKay, Cabinet Member for a Green, Safe and Smart city, said: “We know that the large item collections are valued by our citizens as an effective service that helps them dispose of bulky waste easily and responsibly.

“The new arrangements help reduce our costs, while providing the same level of service.”

Residents wishing to make a booking for a large item collection, should visit http://birmingham.gov.uk/bulkywaste

Note to editors: The final Saturday collection is this weekend (October 27).
