Business Transformation Overview

Business Transformation is Birmingham City Council's ambitious nine-strand programme which aims to modernise and enhance services delivered across the whole authority to citizens. It is projected that the programme will realise benefits of around £1.5billion (gross) for a £600million investment over the ten years to 2016.

  • Corporate Services Transformation (CST) Achieving significant savings through better procurement, an “Amazon.com” style of ordering, greater compliance with corporate contracts and more consistent financial information
  • Working for the Future (WFTF) Workspaces that provide a better staff environment, and support agile working to help deliver improved services to our customers
  • Excellence in People Management (EPM) Helping the Council to make best use of its people resources, improve performance and become an employer of choice
  • Excellence in Information Management (EIM) Improving the way that we create, manage and use our wealth of information
    Customer First (CF) Simpler access to services across a choice of methods, resolving more in the first contact, easy tracking of our performance on service requests by customers, staff and members, and more consistent customer handling by our staff
  • Children, Young People and Families (CYPF) Brighter Futures – Improving outcomes and life chances for all children in Birmingham and in particular vulnerable children through prevention and early intervention programmes that have been proven to work elsewhere
  • Adults and Communities (ACT) Changing social care for adults in Birmingham to support people to be more independent and get an excellent service from us
  • Environment  Providing first class sustainable environmental and leisure services that improve people's quality of life now and in the future
  • Housing A three star service that delivers homes to be proud of; providing quality housing that meets the needs of everyone in the city
