Calling all recycling champions!

Following the success of Birmingham City Council's first Recycling Awards last year, businesses, schools and local recycling champions have until 26 July to get their entries in to this year's competition.

Birmingham City Council cabinet member for a Green, Safe and Smart City, Cllr James McKay said: “I would like to urge all local people, businesses and schools who actively recycle, reuse and reduce waste to enter Birmingham's Recycling Awards.

“These awards give us the opportunity to highlight and celebrate the fantastic work that's being carried out in our city, and which usually goes unnoticed.”

Last year's winners included a primary school with an on-site farm, a fashion student who used recycled materials for her fashion collection and a community organisation using bikes to help people with learning disabilities.
