West Midlands Mayoral Election: The Contenders

The official list of candidates standing in the West Midlands Combined Authority mayoral election on Thursday, 4 May 2017 has been released.

Voters will have a choice of six candidates representing a range of political viewpoints:

  • James Burn - Green Party
  • Pete Durnell - UK Independence Party (UKIP)
  • Beverley Anne Nielsen - Liberal Democrats
  • Sion Llewelyn Simon - Labour and Co-operative Party
  • Graham John Stevenson - Communist
  • Andy Street - Conservative Party

Time to Register to Vote!

Polling stations across the region will be open from 7am until 10pm on election day. For more details about the election, residents can visit www.wmcaelects.co.uk.

Residents are reminded that the deadline to register to vote is 13 April 2017. Anyone not registered by this date will be unable to participate in the mayoral election.

Registering to vote is quick and easy, and can be done online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote. The online system, introduced in 2014, replaced the previous household registration system, and now requires each individual to register themselves.
