People who provide unpaid care for family and friends are being encouraged to recognise themselves as carers.
Birmingham City Council is launching a public consultation on its carers' commissioning strategy, which looks at the needs of carers and the support that is available to them.
However, there are many people who act as carers but don't realise that there is a range of support available to them.
The council is therefore urging people who provide unpaid care for relatives or friends to recognise themselves as carers, and for all carers - young people and adults - to take part in the consultation.
As well as carers, the council is seeking views from services users, health partners, organisations that provide social care services in both the private and voluntary sectors, and the general public.
