Christmas is coming to Birmingham’s Bull Ring Markets with a host of events and activities for shoppers starting this weekend.
The markets’ Christmas countdown begins on Saturday (6 December 2014) as school choirs from across the city performing in the Rag and Open markets between 1pm and 5pm.
Free Radio’s Foxy and Giuliano will broadcast their breakfast show live from the Indoor Market on 12 December, which will be followed by markets’ Civic Carol Concert at St Martin’s in the Field at 6.30pm that evening.
Santa’s Parade, complete with real reindeer, will arrive in the Open Market on 13 December at 2pm, when the big man in the red suit takes up residence in his grotto at 2pm, where he can be visited until 21 December (11am to 5pm).
There also a host of free festive photo opportunities with the Coca-Cola lorry arriving in St Martin’s Square on 11 December, and climbing into the giant snowglobe in the Open Market on 20 and 21 December.
Younger shoppers will be able to enjoy funfair rides (Open Market, 6 to 24 December) and face painting (Indoor Market, 20 and 21 December) before they meet Santa.
All three markets will be open usual hours until 5pm on 24 December – to ensure Brummies can get everything they need for Christmas – and will reopen at 9am on 27 December.
