Christmas 2009 rubbish and recycling collection

By on 23/12/2009 in News

Christmas rubbish and recycling collection will be unaffected for 80% of Birmingham residents, as the only day that crews will not be out is on Friday, Christmas Day. Services will be scheduled as normal on all other days.

If your collection day is normally on a Friday, rubbish, green sack and recycling waste will not be collected on Christmas Day. Your next rubbish collection will be on New Year's Day, and your delayed green sack or recycling collection will be on 8th January.

The Household Recycling Centres will be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. They will re-open on Sunday 27th December, and will then operate usual opening hours. All other collection and recycling arrangements remain unchanged.

Sharon Lea, Strategic Director, Environment and Culture, said:

“We realise and regret the inconvenience which any delay to these essential services cause, and we've ensured that most households are completely unaffected this year”.
