A Civic Service to welcome the new Lord Mayor, Cllr Michael Wilkes, and Lady Mayoress Mrs Vivienne Wilkes into office, will be held on Sunday 7 June, at St Martin’s in the Bullring. This annual event is organised each year by St Martin’s in the Bullring,
to welcome the new Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress and enables the opportunity to pray for the couple in carrying out their civic duties during the coming year.

The Lord Mayor said “I am privileged to follow in the footsteps of previous Mayors and Lord Mayors of our energetic, innovative and diverse City and I hope that the citizens of Birmingham will join with me at Birmingham’s Parish Church on Sunday to celebrate my election as First Citizen of this great City.”

Representatives from the local community, including Councillors, Honorary Aldermen, former Civic Heads, Faith Leaders of Birmingham, Consuls, Voluntary Organisations and the Lord Mayor’s Charity Committee, will join members of the congregation at St Martin’s in the Bullring.

The Service will be conducted by Canon Stewart Jones, Rector Curate of St Martin’s.

The offering taken during the Church Service will be donated to the Lord Mayor’s Charity Appeal.
