Concierge service – a clarification

A Birmingham City Council spokesman said: “Further to the article in the Birmingham Mail on 23 August 2012 regarding the council’s concierge service we would like to state that claims that staff will be made redundant are categorically untrue. We know this service is valued by tenants which is why we are looking at providing an enhanced service and roles may therefore change slightly, but as we have already made clear, there are no plans to discontinue this service. The service review is at an early stage and has included staff and trades unions and we will taking forward proposals for consultation with tenants and leaseholders. We would again like to reassure people that this review is about improving and investing in this valuable service.”
