Council seeks views over book loan period for city libraries

in News

Birmingham City Council is seeking the views of Birmingham residents about proposed changes to the standard loan period for items borrowed from Birmingham libraries.

The Loan Period Consultation will consider changing the loan period of books and other items from four weeks to three weeks. The shorted period of time will ensure that books and other materials are returned more frequently, and will offer a wider selection of titles to library visitors. It will also bring Birmingham in line with other library authorities.

Library members will still be able to renew books on line, over the telephone and in person if they wish to keep items them for longer than the three week loan period.

To contact the council with your thoughts on the consultation, please email - LoBCommunications@servicebirmingham.co.uk or write to:
Central Library,
Chamberlain Square,
Birmingham,
B3 3HQ

Please mark your letter 'Loan Period Consultation' or, if it's more convenient, you can hand-in your letter in person at any Birmingham community library.
