Councillor John Lines, Cabinet Member for Housing, met up with representatives from contractors who are supporting this year's Poppy Appeal.

poppy-appealContractors are working in partnership with the City Council to repair and improve council homes and are helping to carrying out the largest new council house building programme seen in the city in over 30 years, through the Birmingham Municipal Housing Trust (BMHT).

A number of contractors have purchased poppies for their vehicle fleets whilst others have made donations to the Royal British Legion, selling poppies from their depots and offices across the city.

Councillor John Lines said: “I am pleased that many of our contractors are supporting the poppy appeal. This is a wonderful opportunity for us all to show our appreciation and respect for those who have given and continue to give so much to us all. I hope all of our efforts will go some way towards helping the British Legion in Birmingham raise £1 million for injured servicemen and their families.”

Contactors supporting this year's appeal include Wates Construction Ltd, Thomas Vale Construction PLC, Willmott Dixon Partnerships Limited, Morrison Facilities Services Limited, Kier Partnership Homes Limited and Frank Haslam Milan Limited.
