Demand was high as the LDV Taskforce two-day jobs and advice event got underway at Villa Park this morning.

Over 1,000 people visited the FUTURES 'jobs for Birmingham and the West Midlands' event inside the first hour.

The two-day event will see employers from across the region advertise  jobs, giving those who attend the chance to apply there and then.

The Taskforce is a multi-agency body involving Birmingham City Council, Jobcentre Plus, Advantage West Midlands, The Learning and Skills Council, Accelerate and Solihull Council, set up to support local citizens affected by the economic downturn.

In addition to promoting available jobs, the event also offers visitors free careers, benefits, debt management and training advice.
