Fly A Flag For Our Armed Forces

Local authorities across the land will be ‘Flying a Flag for our Armed Forces’ on Monday 22 June.

In Birmingham, the Lord Mayor, Cllr Michael Wilkes and the Lady Mayoress, Mrs Vivienne Wilkes, will join reps from the Armed Forces, the British Federation of Ex-Service Association, the Royal British Legion, Cadets, from the Army, the Navy, the Royal Air Force and the Nautical Club, Councillors and members of the public to watch a specially-commissioned Armed Forces Day flag raised for the first time. The new flag will remain in place for a week to celebrate Armed Forces day on Friday 27 June.

The Lord Mayor, said: “This is a very special occasion, a new flag being flown to mark British Armed Forces Day, a national event happening for the first time. I hope that members of the public will also join us to experience this occasion in Victoria Square on Monday morning. It is a chance to say thank you to all our Armed Forces, past and present for the vital role they perform for our security and well-being.”
