Foundations for house building programme to be laid

The foundations for Birmingham's first major council house building programme in almost three decades will tomorrow be be laid by Councillor John Lines.

Time and place: Brooklea Grove, Owens Croft, Kings Norton, B38 9NE
3pm, Wednesday 24 March 2010

Details: Councillor John Lines, Cabinet Member for Housing and a team of construction apprentices will together lay a symbolic “Golden Brick” as part of the foundations for one of the most ambitious house building schemes in the country.

The young apprentices have been taken on as part of a £15 million investment in building 129 new council homes across this site and three others by Birmingham City Council and the Homes and Communities Agency.

The new homes will showcase high quality design and environmental standards which will reduce running costs and energy bills for residents.
