FREE half-term fun in city parks

Looking for something to do with the kids over half-term? How about FREE football, rounders, badminton, cricket, archery, tennis and more?

Birmingham City Council’s popular physical activity programme ParkLives will host 21 fun-filled sessions in 14 parks across the city from 25-29 May.

Building on the success of pop-up sessions in city parks last summer, the two-hour sessions are open to the whole family and best of all, they’re totally free of charge.

Deputy Leader of Birmingham City Council, Cllr Ian Ward, said: said: “We’ve got loads of free fun in parks across the city and the aim is to get as many people as possible to ‘move it’ this half-term.

“Inactivity is one of the biggest health challenges we face as a city and these sessions are a great way to tackle that challenge. The pop-up activities were a massive hit last summer and this is another great chance for families to enjoy loads of free fun in their local park.”

Launched at the end of May last year, the ParkLives initiative builds on Birmingham’s innovative Active Parks scheme to offer a growing weekly schedule of free sessions including:

  • Tai Chi in Cotteridge Park
  • Zumba in Walkers Heath Park
  • Running in Handsworth Park
  • Rowing, Sailing and Canoeing at Edgbaston Reservoir
