FUTURES jobs event at Villa Park

Job seekers from across the West Midlands are expected to once again flood to Villa Park over the next two days as Birmingham City Council stages a free two-day jobs event with hundreds of live jobs on offer.

The ‘FUTURES’ – Jobs for Birmingham and the West Midlands event will see companies from a range of industries on hand to meet with potential employees face-to-face and discuss currently available job opportunities.

A previous ‘FUTURES’ event, staged at Villa Park in July 2009, saw more than 3,000 people passing through the doors to apply for the jobs on offer and receive a wide range of free support and advice.

Cllr Neville Summerfield, Cabinet Member for Regeneration at Birmingham City Council, said: “The event we staged last year was such a success, with so many job seekers and employers taking part, that there was never any doubt as to whether we should repeat it.

“By bringing so many jobs, apprenticeships and support services together in one place we have created an event which no-one looking for work in West Midlands can afford to miss.

Companies already committed to taking space at the event include Amey, Tracscare, Morsons, Kalamazoo-Reynolds and Signet Trading, with more expected to confirm nearer to the date.”

The event is being organised by Birmingham City Council, Jobcentreplus, The Learning and Skills Council, Birmingham Chamber of Commerce and Solihull Metropolitan Council.

Staged at the Holte Suite at Villa Park, the event will be open from 2pm to 8pm, on Thursday 25th and 10am to 4pm Friday 26th February. Free crèche facilities and parking are available.
