Centenary Square will soon be transformed for Christmas with the arrival of an outdoor ice rink.

Complementing the annual Christmas Markets, 'Winter Skate'  at Birmingham's ice rink will be open daily from 10am to 10pm from Sunday 17 November until 5 January (except Christmas Day) with last entries at 9pm.

And for those eager to try it out, there are now additional sessions from 7pm on Saturday 16 November.

Deputy Leader for Birmingham City Council, Cllr Ian Ward, said: “It's been six years since we last had an ice rink as part of our Christmas celebrations and I'm really pleased that Wilsons Funfair are able to offer this opportunity in Centenary Square close to the stunning new Library of Birmingham.  Visitors to Birmingham and locals alike will be able to enjoy the magic of open air ice skating in our festive ice rink throughout the season.”

Tickets start at £5 for students off-peak, £7 peak, children £6 off-peak/£8 peak and adults £7 off-peak/£9 peak.  Family tickets are £30 off-peak/£34 peak.

The ice rink has capacity for more than 200 skaters at a time and tickets can be bought from the hotline on 0844 581 1247, online at and on the door.
