Green waste collections resume for 2013 season

By on 15/02/2013 in News

Residents are being reminded that fortnightly green (garden) waste collections are set to resume following the annual winter break on February 25.

As a result of the council's need to save £102million in the 2013/14 financial year, rolls of sacks are set to be no longer be provided for this service from the end of March. From that point, households will therefore need to purchase their own sacks (available from most supermarkets and many other stores) to participate in the service.

It is recommended that the sacks, as in previous years, should be left open when put out for collection, to aid their identification as green waste.

Alternatively, composter bins can be purchased from www.birmingham.getcomposting.com or by calling 0845 130 6090.

If BCC no longer supply bags for garden waste, may I suggest to avoid confusing household refuse collectors, BCC ‘suggest; residents purchase green bags (same price) rather than black?
