Kids comedy festival returns to Central Library

By on 15/02/2010 in News

An overwhelming success last year, Birmingham's comedy festival for kids returns to Central Library with free comedy acts and workshops over the half term holidays.

Gigglefest, which runs from 13 to 20 February, includes workshops, open mic sessions, and storytelling, as well as performances by some of the country's top children's comedians.

Workshops on offer include comic art masterclasses with Beano artist and comedian Kev F Sutherland and comedy workshops with Barbara Nice, Jane Sutcliffe and The Noise Next Door.  There are also writing workshops, stand up performances, comedy craft sessions and puppet shows.

From tots to teens different age groups are provided for from a 'Giggle go round' workshop for 2 - 5 year olds through to improvisational comedy for 12 - 14 year olds and plenty of events that are suitable for all the family.

Cllr Martin Mullaney, Cabinet Member for Leisure, Sport and Culture said: “The council's libraries hold a wide range of free and low cost activities for children throughout the year.  Gigglefest adds to the quality of families' lives by providing a fun and educational day out that doesn't put a strain on the budget.”
