Leader to open India celebrations

Event: Leader of Birmingham City Council, Cllr Mike Whitby joins the High Commissioner of India, Mr Nalin Suri, the Indian Consulate and distinguished guests to celebrate India’s 60th republic day celebrations. Attendance to the event has been by invitation only.

Place and date: The Anniversary Celebration is taking place at the ICC on Sunday 7 February 2010, 19:00 – 21:05 hrs.

Details: The High Commissioner of India and Leader of Birmingham City Council will formally open the event followed by entertainment and food. Geeta Chandran, famous Bhartanatyam Artist will be performing.

Notes to editors:
1.  The republic day of India commemorates the date on which the constitution of India came into force replacing the government act of India (which had been written by the British government in 1935).
