Library dig open day

Unearth Birmingham's past tomorrow (Aug 27) as members of the public are given access to ongoing archaeological excavations at the new Library of Birmingham site.

The open day runs from 10am to 5pm and a team from Birmingham Archaeology will give talks about the results of the excavation on the hour, every hour, at the viewing area next to the Repertory Theatre.

The team, from the University of Birmingham, are currently surveying the area, which has been underground for 90 years, and have found a network of workshops, loading areas, furnaces, boiler rooms and offices.

Prior booking is not required.
