Birmingham Lord Mayor 2013-14

Lord Mayor Cllr Mike Leddy will officially open Birmingham's International Food Fair on Thursday 15 August at 12.45pm in Victoria Square…

And there is plenty to tempt visitors with more than 120 stalls of delicious food from around the world and the best of local food and drink too.

From Australian game, Chinese noodles, Caribbean jerk chicken and German sausages to French crepes, Iranian baklava, Italian ice cream and Spanish Churros with hot dipping chocolate there's plenty to get taste buds tingling.  There's also a chance to sample food that's closer to home with English cheeses, pickles and chutneys and a hog roast complete with roast potatoes and gravy.

Deputy Leader for Birmingham City Council, Cllr Ian Ward, said: “For people holidaying at home this year, the International Food Fair is a chance to try foods from around the world without leaving Birmingham.

“A 'summer sister' to our world famous Frankfurt Christmas Market, the International Food Fair shows the diversity of our city to visitors from the wider region and beyond, celebrating the best of our local and regional produce.

“Visitors to the fair can buy food to take home or enjoy it there and then in an outdoor seating area with a Pimms and champagne bar, beer tent and live music at lunch time and early evening.”

The Food Fair takes place in Victoria and Chamberlain Squares and Upper New Street from Wednesday 14 to Bank Holiday Monday 26 August and is open daily from 10am to 9.30pm.  Entry is free and there will be live music from 12.30 - 2pm in Victoria Square and from 5.30 - 7pm in Chamberlain Square.”
