Lord Mayor’s Show 2013

This year's Lord Mayor's Show promises free bank holiday fun for all the family on Monday 27 May.

The annual show takes place from 11am to 5pm in Chamberlain and Victoria Squares and the Council House.

As well as raising money for the Lord Mayor's charities, it is usually an opportunity for Birmingham citizens to welcome the city's incoming Lord Mayor.  However, Cllr Mike Leddy is currently unwell so the current Lord Mayor, Cllr John Lines, will preside over events and continue as Lord Mayor until 11 June 2013.

The current Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Cllr John Lines, said: “It has been an enormous pleasure serving as Lord Mayor during the past year and the show is a wonderful way to celebrate it.  I am so sorry that Cllr Leddy will be unable to take up the position of Lord Mayor in time for what promises to be a great day out for the whole family.”

This year's show has live music on the main stage in Chamberlain Square with original 1960s group 'The Ivy League', tribute act 'Beatles for Sale' and '7th Son'.

In Victoria Square there will be plenty of children's activities with:

• 'Mad science' experiments
• trampoline bungee
• giant Jenga and Connect 4 games
• a climbing wall
• craft workshops
• face painting

In the Council House there's a chance to:

• go behind the scenes and visit the Lord Mayor's Parlour and Council Chamber
• watch 1960s fashion shows in the Banqueting Suite
• listen to talks from the Royal Navy and Scouts and Brownies in the HMS Daring Room

Lastly, you can find out how to 'do it all online' with top comedy act Mrs Barbara Nice and Free Radio who will be on hand to talk to people about the range of council services that are accessible though the council's website.
