Active Parks has linked-up with Reward Your World™ and now has a GPS Active Parks/Reward Your World iphone and Android app that proposes specific activities for residents and then rewards with a financially backed points currency known as Betterpoints™ for every completed activity. Residents can already collect Betterpoints™ for getting up and active across 23 of the City’s parks and more are due to join the programme this year.
Head of Community Sport and Physical Activity, Karen Creavin, said: “If you made a resolution to get fitter and healthier with exercise in 2015, then Active Parks can now provide you with a little more encouragement to get it done as we have now joined forces with Reward Your World™ to provide the terrific rewards for exercising.”
The Active Parks/Reward Your World concept is simple; A Birmingham resident visits the park, scans the QR codes on the posters to download an app, then every time they run or walk in the parks or near them, they can collect Betterpoints™.
Just open the app, chose an activity, hit start and points are collected. Users can even collect points for just visiting the park, as once you have the app, you can scan the posters again when you are in the park and get bonus points for that too.
Betterpoints™ soon add up, the more activities you do, the more you earn – with bonus points for getting extra busy and doing three or more activities in a day.
Betterpoints™ can be exchanged for high street vouchers or donated as cash to local or national good causes. If you love your park, you may wish to donate your points to your local friends group.
Details of these events, activities and volunteering opportunities that you can earn Betterpoints™ for can be found here https://www.rewardyourworld.com/
Local businesses, clubs and services are being invited to join the programme as Betterpoints™ are a brilliant way to support the wider community. So getting active in 2015 will not only help you look and feel better but also help make the place you live a bit better too.
