Emma Brown has been appointed as a new Area Coroner for Birmingham and Solihull.
Miss Brown is a Birmingham based barrister and she will take up her position in the coronial team, led by Senior Coroner Mrs Louise Hunt, on 1 August 2015.
Her role will be to investigate circumstances surrounding deaths where there is reason to believe the cause of death was violent, unnatural or unknown, and to hold inquests into these deaths as appropriate.
Miss Brown said: “I am delighted to have been appointed and very much looking forward to taking up the post in August.”
As an Area Coroner, Emma will sit as a Coroner and work alongside the Senior Coroner for Birmingham and Solihull providing support and capacity to enable the Coronial function to be delivered effectively and efficiently across both authorities.
The Senior Coroner and Area Coroner are further supported by a number of Assistant Coroners who provide additional support when required.
