Papal visit public viewing area

Pope Benedict XVI will travel in the popemobile along a section of Hagley Road on Sunday.

This is the only viewing opportunity outside of Cofton park so people wishing to see the Pontiff are advised to get there in plenty of time.

The popemobile will travel along Hagley Road for approximately two miles towards the oratory in a city-bound direction.

The viewing opportunity will be sometime after 12.30pm but we would advise people to allow plenty of time to get there and find a viewing space.

People are advised to dress for inclement weather and bring some water and refreshments.

There will be no public access to the oratory during this time as this is a private visit.

A section of Hagley Road out of town will be closed from 8am to 3pm to allow viewing access. The in-bound carriageway from Lordswood Rd to Fiveways will only be affected when the popemobile is in use.

Those travelling by car are advised to use city centre car parks and then continue by foot, or alternatively use public transport - the nearest train station is at Fiveways.

Those not involved or attending the visit are advised to avoid the area.
