Reception Class – September 2016 intake

Offers as at 18 April 2016

Birmingham Pupils

16,141 parent/carers living in Birmingham submitted an application requesting a Reception Class place for their child for September 2016  (up 356)

36,688 preferences were expressed (up 1,001)

12,549 (79.8%) applications were made on-line* (up 441 / up 2.4%)

  • 13,823 children (85.6%) were offered their first preferred school (up 0.9%)
  • 1,092 children (6.8%) were offered their second preferred school (down 0.45)
  • 400 children (2.5%) were offered their third preferred school (down 0.4%)

 

15,315 children (94.9%) were offered one of their preferred schools (up 0.1%)

826 children (5.1%) were offered a school that was not one of their preferences   (down 0.1%)

472 children (2.9%) were offered a school outside Birmingham (down 0.4%)

* 123 children with a Statement of Educational Need/EHC Plan cannot apply on-line, and 289 parent/carers applied after closing date of 15th January and online system no longer available.

 

Non-Birmingham Pupils

461 parent/carers who live in another local authority submitted a preference for a place at a Birmingham school for their child for September 2016 (up 39)

628 preferences were expressed (up 49)

Of the 461 applications:

  • 154 (33.4%) were offered their first preferred school (down 5.2%)
  • 11 (2.4%) were offered their second preferred school (no change)
  • 4 (1%) were offered their third preferred school (down 1.4%)
  • 1 (0.1%) were offered their sixth preferred school (down 0.5%)

 

170 (36.9%) of the 461 children were offered a Birmingham school (down 7.1%)
