Over 12,000 runners have signed-up to take part in next month's EDF Energy Birmingham Half Marathon - a third more than last year.

With Birmingham also hosting the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships, an impressive 12,068 runners will tackle the 13-mile course on October 11, following in the footsteps of some of the world's best athletes.

If you are not signed-up to run the half marathon, you can still play a part on the day. Last year more than 500 volunteers helped to make the EDF Energy Birmingham Half Marathon a success and we couldn't have done it without them. This year we need even more people to help make this event and the 18th IAAF World Half Marathon Championships a success.
