Refuse collections update: Jan 14

Over two million black bags have been collected from the streets of Birmingham over the last nine days as efforts continue to return refuse collection services to normal as quickly as possible.

In total around 2,025,800 bags have been collected since January 5, weighing in at 7,967 tonnes.

Yesterday (Jan 13) a staggering 2,162 tonnes of black bags were collected - representing around 432,400 black bags cleared from the city's streets.

Scheduled collections
Regular crews are carrying out scheduled collections and we urge residents to only put out new refuse on their scheduled days.

Work will continue over the weekend to clear the backlog across the city.

Regular crews are now returning to scheduled recycling collections.

Househould Recycling Centres
HRCs will continue to operate extended hours (8am-9pm) until further notice.

Green Waste
Green waste collections will resume as planned on February 7.
