Refuse collections update (January 13th)

By on 13/01/2010 in News

Most refuse and recycling collections are now up to date, with the exception of some outstanding work where some side roads are not as accessible and the sensible decision is to only carry out collections where safe to do so. We will continue to monitor the situation.

Obviously the disruption is regrettable, but unavoidable due to the road conditions at present, public safety must be paramount when vehicles of 26 tonne are involved, in order to avoid the threat of potential accidents and damage to parked vehicles in icy conditions.

Today we have been out in some areas but the worsening weather conditions have meant that we have not been able to do as much as originally planned.

We are committed to clear any backlog over the next few days, weather permitting.

This article is untrue. Here in Kings Heath we have had no refuse collection for the second week running despite the road and surrounding roads being clear. Indeed our road has huge Sainsbury’s lorries down several times a day. If they can get down I am sure bin lorries can.

I left a comment a week ago and it is ‘still awaiting moderation’

The binmen have still not been, nearly three weeks now.

If they were ‘almost up to date’ a week ago how come we have still had only three weeks worth og rubbish on the streets?
