Residents of Birmingham are being reminded that the city’s three “super” Household Recycling Centres (HRCs) are open from 8am to 8pm every day of the week during the summer season.
The reminder comes ahead of the May Day Bank Holiday Week – a time when householders use their time off work to have clean-ups of their homes or carry out much-needed gardening work.
From Friday 3 April until Saturday 31 October, the three “super” HRCs to be open for 12 hours a day, 7 days per week are:
Lifford Lane, Kings Norton, B30 3JJ
Holford Drive, Perry Barr, B42 2TU
James Road, Tyseley, B11 2BA
For the same summer season (April to October) the other two HRCs will be open 8am until 8pm on weekdays and at weekends from 8am until 4.30pm. They are:
Tameside Drive, Castle Bromwich, B35 7AG
Norris Way, Sutton Coldfield, B75 7BB
Note: Winter opening hours at all five sites (for the remainder of the year) are normally 8am – 6pm on weekdays and 8am – 4.30pm weekends.
As well as the extended opening, the council has recently also introduced changes to the HRCs to make it easier to access the sites – such as increased areas for garden waste recycling.
Residents taking their unwanted items and waste to any of the five HRCs are advised to do so during the normally quieter times and by utilising the extended opening hours, as above. The quieter times are:
– Tuesday to Thursday
– Before 10am and after 3pm weekdays
